5G & EMF
Understanding the relationship between 5G technology and electromagnetic fields, based on objective measurements and scientific data.
What is 5G?
5G is the fifth generation of mobile network technology, designed to deliver faster data speeds and lower latency than previous generations. It operates across a range of frequency bands, including sub-6 GHz frequencies similar to existing 4G networks, as well as higher-frequency millimetre wave bands.
From an EMF perspective, 5G introduces additional sources of radio-frequency electromagnetic fields into our environment. At Native EMF, we take an objective, measurement-based approach to understanding these fields and their characteristics.
Key Considerations
Frequency Bands
5G uses multiple frequency bands. Lower bands (sub-6 GHz) behave similarly to 4G, while millimetre wave bands (24-39 GHz) have shorter range and lower penetration through building materials.
Infrastructure Density
5G networks, particularly millimetre wave, require more base stations positioned closer together. This changes the distribution of RF sources in urban environments.
Measurement-Based Approach
We recommend measuring actual EMF levels in your environment rather than relying on assumptions. Our surveys and products are designed to help you understand and manage your RF exposure.
